In light of the Garlean invasion of their homeland, Narangerel's family sought refuge in Northern Eorzea, but like others before them, attracted the disdain of Ishgardian folk for their draconic appearance. One mother lost, the other gravely wounded, Nara and their surviving parent fled to the Dravanian Forelands following the attack. The pair were discovered by one of the nonmind, who led them back to the colony where their wounds were tended to and they were allowed to stay in secluded safety. Nara and their mother Cotata swore a debt to the Vath for their aid and would stay with the colony for years to come, adopting them as their new tribe. With the guidance of their echo, Nara would meet a particular group of heroes on an impossible quest. After aiding in the defeat of the primal Ravana, they would venture away from their new home for the first time to join the scions and warriors of light on their journey.Nara is a gentle soul with a reserved and demure disposition. Their biggest weakness lies in social interaction, but they are strong willed and self sufficient, being a skilled hunter and survivalist. Nara hates big crowds and shies away from attention and praise, preferring to cultivate relationships with a select few. They may come off standoffish, but they are compassionate and full of love.

  • Picked up a few quirks from growing up around the Vath, the most noticeable being a verbal tic that mimics the clacking of mandibles, frequently used as a filler word or repeated when in deep thought

  • They speak very little, to the point of near complete mutism around anyone unfamiliar, clicking is sometimes used to grab attention

  • They love insects of all kinds and feel a close connection to them, their preferred mount is a kongamato they raised as a teenager

  • They excel at long ranged combat, their mother taught them to use a bow from a young age, and the Vath introduced them to their unique style of firearms, also WHM but idk where that came from

  • Enjoys collecting textile materials and making clothes and linens for themself and others, they like loose garments and bright colours

  • They have a pair of insect antennae sprouting from their head, there's no story reason for this it's just cute

cotata kha

Nara's surviving mother, an outdoorswoman that taught Nara everything they know about hunting. Cotata sustained a leg injury from the Ishgardian attack that left her with a limp, but continues a hard working life. She collects materials and game with her hatchet and bow, and teaches Nara and the Vath Othardian hunting and cooking techniques.

the nonmind

Similarly outcast and displaced, the colony of nonmind took in Nara and Cotata when it was needed most. After many years together, Nara considers the Vath as precious as family, likewise they and Cotata are seen as part of the colony. As Nara gains more worldly experience, they periodically return to the colony to aid in development of the new adventurer's guild.

kirianu goto (carrd)

A hotheaded freelance adventurer that settled in Tailfeather some time after Nara had joined the Vath. The two quickly took notice of each other and harboured a mutual interest, but Nara's skittish nature kept them distant until the scions arrived in need of their aid. Over the course of the resulting journey together, they have developed a deep and loving bond.

more to come whenever ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Nara is based off of a gijinka-turned-OC of Morpho Knight from Kirby, you can look at them like an FF14 AU version of that character. They've got butterfly/Ravana/fire theming because of their origin. Their story from Heavensward to Endwalker and beyond is tied with 8 other OCs between my partner and I.
